In constant chaotically changing space, there is one constant dimension – the defective pixels shown in the film. Only casually deteriorated fragments remain stable in the course of loading and expectation. Despite seeming simplistic and sending to ready-made video, it is possible to consider boot screen as a high-grade film. Scripted soundtracks, a storyboard, become an intrapersonal installation at a post-production stage. Shootings were made from the monitor in a special non-glare film studio. A bright dot defect is a group of three sub-pixels (one pixel) all of whose transistors are“off” for “TN” panels or stuck “on” for “MVA”/”PVA” panels. This allows all light to pass through to the RGB layer, creating a bright white pixel that is always on.

The informational over-saturation of modern society and the rise in numbers of immediate tasks that every individual and the society as a whole are dealing with determine the direction of an identity erasure, an identification with the group, the mass. It is happening not only in the physical and spiritual sense but also in the informational one. The question is where the place of personality in this field is – the desire to be simultaneously a part of it, and without breaking into pieces, to be a comprehensive whole.

“Death Among Us” documents ordinary people attending an exhibition or walking down the street before coming into contact with a dancing skeleton. The footage recorded via mobile PC allows Elagin to play the live feed juxtaposed with animation on- site, allowing the individuals featured in the video to interact with and react to the animation in real time, blurring the boundaries between the physical and the digital world.

The hypnotic effect of d_time is conditioned by the acoustic solution of the sound of an unknown nature superimposed on a depiction which seems to exist independently, reproducing on the one hand fantastic images of the mind, and, on the other hand, the concealed landscape together with the “convex” Op-Art. It is a conscious image and sound bulge that also has some double definition: it is ultimately expressive and simultaneously symbolic. The symbol dissolves in color, in the spreading black and retreating white. This cacophony of sound and color, of sigh and image, is a time in the space of the horizon discovered by the artist.
