The video is a game between body, art and publicity. It shows the lesson of drawing in the Art Academy. The camera is concentrated on the drawing, which presents a nude male body. The affinity and slow-motion of the camera forces the effect of intimacy and eroticism of this moment. From one side it is the nude male body, but from another side, it is the piece of “etude” included in the everyday study practice. This video poses the question of where is the border in the perception of the nude body.

This video contains my attempts at calculation the victims of the Blockade. These numbers are the first thing that comes to my mind when I’m thinking about this tragedy. What impresses me is not only the number but also the difference in numbers from different sources.

In my work I’m trying to I was thinking a lot about how it’s possible for a human being to realize 1000.000 of died people. When we hear the numbers as one million, 28 million, five thousand, etc. we are not able to compare it with real lives, real people.

I try to make calculations in different places and find any method of visualization of such a big number of human victims. All my attempts are just numbers or signs, it’s not possible to find the correct method.

The goal of this video is to focus people on the Blockade and on the scale of this tragedy. But it’s not only about the Blockade, but about victims of any war. With this video I’m trying to show the impossibility to present life victims in numbers, the soulless and anti-humanistic approach of the official statistics with their rounding, measuring, and depersonalization.

The issue of space and frame has received different meanings in the digital age. Today it is difficult to formulate where the exhibition is happening – the white cube of the gallery, in the artist’s workshop, or on the smartphone screens. The “Rooms” project is trying to rethink and reconstruct the concepts of space and the form of the exhibition into a digital era.

Screens are simultaneously a representation of the spaces around objects and a self-contained object. The video includes physical, drawn, and broadcasted pictures presenting rooms of different scales and mediums. “Rooms” are a homogeneous environment for the existence of digital time-moving images.

The project creates an art space beyond coordinates and time frames. Representation and its recursion are the main form and content of the project.
