The work you are describing is an artistic collaboration between the artist and an AI application called Midjourney to create fictional alien beings that resemble tardigrades. These beings are sentient and interact with their environment in a unique way due to their Umwelt, which is their subjective sensory environment. As they inhabit a human environment, their experience is strange and highlights the importance of considering an organism’s unique perspective and subjective experience when studying behavior and ecology.

Tondo Artis: Fair or Unfair?

An experimental piece of art filmed with a 360-degree Ladybug camera and created during many Art Basel art fairs for 7 years. Marin Kasimir gathered a group of 15 friends who represent the Brussels art world to help him create this piece. The idea of the work developed from exploring new technical possibilities of panoramic spherical image and sound to humor and social criticism of the processes of commercialization in art.

Oneiria

In our increasingly digitized world, unpredictable behaviour from technology is often perceived as negative; however, these glitches can be reinterpreted as an expansion of the possibilities of image production in the digital age. “Oneria” uses datamoshing (a technique in which digital video images are deliberately made unstable) and found footage in different formats (digital HD, VHS, Super 8, …) as paint, inciting glitches and smearing images to create abstract, dreamlike landscapes.

Inside Fortepiano

The Insight Fortepiano project explores the dynamic relationship between image and sound perception. Piano improviser– Aki Hoffmann

Accompanying a film or a theatre performance, music traditionally plays a secondary role, usually following the visual development. In the opera, or today’s music videos, visual sequence follows the music. Aleksandra focuses on the most musical of instruments, reveals its hidden physical aspects through images – both for the musician and his audience.

The performance explores architecture of acoustics with three small video cameras put inside the instrument. They film from three different angles and transmit the image first to a computer where the video becomes monochrome with high contrast, and then to a screen in front of the musician. It allows him to observe and control the images during his improvisation, creating a graphic drawing that changes under the influence of music. Sometimes it resembles a moonscape, a wide field, a city from afar, or outlines of strange people or animals.

Choice of camera angles and manipulations of light, colour and contrast of images with a mixer board creates a film. And the musician translates musical harmony and rhythm into image, coordinating his movements with the visualization. Thus, the artist and the musician work in one synchronized effort.
