During the pandemic, choreographer Olga Tsvetkova and photographer Ekaterina Malygina joined forces and moved to the shores of the Gulf of Finland. Their collaboration was driven by the need to continue inspiring people confined within four walls.
Our artistic collaboration began with regular walks, which gradually turned into a hunt for the choreography of the surrounding world. We started viewing nature as the only stage available at that time. Using our heightened sensitivity, a camera on a phone, and the naked body, we aimed to draw the viewer’s attention to the dancing reality around us.
Olga Tsvetkova is a choreographer, performer, and curator. She studied at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO, Amsterdam) in the Choreography and Creating Dance Performance department. During her studies, she participated in artworks by choreographers such as Debora Hey (USA) and Benoit Lachambre (Canada). Her artwork "Repose," created in collaboration with choreographer Alisa Schneider and composer Renzo van Steenbergen, was selected by the largest European dance network, "Aerowaves," and presented at the Springforward Festival in 2014. That same year, she released an artwork at the Vsevolod Meyerhold Center ("Moments") in collaboration with M. Durnenkov, V. Gorlinsky, and O. Makarov.
She was a resident at Dansateliers (Rotterdam) in 2016-2017. In 2017, she completed the Master's program in Directing at DAS Theatre, Amsterdam School of Arts, and was a recipient of the danceWEB scholarship program in 2017 (Vienna). From 2018 to 2022, she worked as a curator for the contemporary dance program at the V-A-C Foundation's GES-2 Cultural Center.
In 2019, together with composer Anton Svetlichny, a group of performers, and a chamber orchestra, she released a contemporary ballet called "Cry for Silence. Dao De Jing" at the Mutabor club. In the same year, she directed the performance "Human after all" for the Norrdans dance company in Sweden. In 2021, together with Teodor Currentzis, she created the contemporary ballet "Afternoon Rest of a Faun" to the music of Debussy (musicAeterna, Dom Radio). She also started working as a representative (expert) from Russia in the European dance network "Aerowaves".
