Doorway threat

Video Artist: Yanina Chernykh

Description:

“In a confined space, when a danger arises, people suddenly start all at the same time looking for salvation, that is, they want to get out of this room” (from the Rules of Conduct in a Crowd in a Confined Space according to the book by V.V. Petrov “Fundamentals of Survival and Safety in the City”) …

The idea for this work arose six months before the COVID-19 pandemic. It often happens that it is impossible to leave your room, from your box, toy house. You are surrounded by stories and dreams, ghostly entities come to visit you. And you sit in the center of all this and, unable to move a muscle, only thoughts can travel around your unreal splendor. But somewhere inside, there is still a glimmer of knowledge that it is possible to get out: now, five more minutes and run into the street, escape from captivity and veil … After all, what terrible thing can happen? Unless you go out on the wrong street.
