For me, the feeling of immortality is born in the moment of a passionate kiss, when a feeling of connection, dissolution and a passionate desire to live is born.

Julia Sharkina

Julia Sharkina is an artist from Yekaterinburg. She was born on July 21, 1987. She studied at the Ural State Architectural and Art University, specializing in Image Design.

She has created performances in various spaces, including Marina Gisich Gallery and Namegallery, the performing arts studio "SDVIG" in St. Petersburg, WINZAVOD in Moscow, Dom Makletskogo, and the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg.

The artist explores the nature of human emotions, the living texture of emotions, embodying them in performative practices.

Yulia is the curator of the DEVOCHKI project, which supports female performance art. She is also an organizer and participant in many festivals and coordinated construction at the Central Exhibition Hall "Manezh" as part of the large-scale art project "Moscow is Not Far Away."

Her works have been exhibited at the Sergey Kuryokhin Center for Contemporary Art and the Music Festival in Berlin. Her performance "Emanation" became the headline act at the "Ahola" electronic music festival.

Currently she lives and works in St. Petersburg.
