Marina Abadjeva
She was born in 1986, Saint Petersburg. Marina is a video artist, performer, and curator whose practice unfolds at the intersection of video art, performative and theatrical practices, participatory formats, and experimental sculptural forms.
Her video works develop across three main directions: selfie-films, sensitive video, and documentation of performances. Abadzheva approaches video not only as a recording medium, but as an autonomous artistic space where attention, presence, voice, and embodiment become central materials.
Her practice is characterized by an ongoing shift between intimacy and collectivity, documentation and fiction, vulnerability and humor. Video often functions as a sensitive interface between the artist and the viewer, inviting a heightened awareness of perception, voice, and bodily presence.
Alongside video art, Abadzheva works with performance, inclusive artistic projects, and experimental mono-sculpture, frequently engaging non-professional participants and collaborating with people with diverse physical and social experiences.
